Or rather two weeks at once since last weekend was filled with other activity. This time it’s podfic time as I caught up with the immense output of the first two months of the year - or as much as I could in fandoms I found interesting.


[Podfic] Tempus Fugit written by Minutae. Witcher, Gen, Vesemir-centric, Rated T, Chose Not To Warn, ~15 min.
This is a lovely gen story centering around how Witcher aging distances them from human society. It chronicles Vesemir’s interaction with a village over several generations. Althroughout the tale is layered with grief and regret, which FrenchKey’s soft reading accentuates in brilliant fashion.

Rise With The Moon by Thorinsmut. Zelda BotW, Link/Lynel, Lynel/Lynel, Rated E, Warnings for Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, ~31k.
The reason this popped up in my AO3 history is that I recced this on discord recently and I figure I should do it properly here. This is, in my mind, The Best Lynel fucking story I have had the joy to read. For my fellow monster fuckers here, you are undoubtedly aware that the BotW Lynels are banging like a loose windscreen caught in a hurricane, so any smut involving them is at least somewhat hot. What this fanfic adds is on top of smut there are FEELINGS and ROMANCE and CULTURE. 10/10. This is also on my to-podfic list, if I ever get around to having a proper personal desktop computer again, so look forward to that.

Confined spaces series by Owlix. TF IDW, Gen, Megatron-centric, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, ~4k.
A series of fics that center around Megatron’s identity as a miner. Full of the class struggle and working class feelings that make this character and by the nature of the trauma also full of grief and sorrow. Great little collection, truly.

[podfic + text] The Voice In the Computer written and read by secretsofluftnarp. TMA/Craig the Discord bot, Gen, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~1k/~8 min.
I don’t know what people do at voiceteam and at this point I feel too afraid to ask about the madness, but they make really funny things. Craig the Discord bot is a bot the podfic server uses to record voice chat readings and he seems to have developed some technical issues. So of course secretsofluftnarp crossed that with one of the current big podfic fandoms, The Magnus Archives, to bring a spoopy incident report to life. Amazing.

[Podfic] To Bake An Apple Pie written and read by pandamug. Original Work, Gen, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~15 min.
In this cooking show, gods compete and being gods, of course, don’t bake apple pie as much as make a universe and let someone bake apple pie for them. The premise seems baffling, but it’s easy to get invested in a hearth goddess, the candidate the fic follows. Very enchanting and wonderfully read by the author.

[Podfic] Black-Clad Bats And Making Money written by Gray_Days , read by aether (with audience). DC, Gen, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, ~30 min.
This fic originated from a tumblr user asking the question: What if Riddler but John Mulaney? Being a somewhat well-versed batfamily fan and knowing John Mulaney only from tumblr gif sets, I judge this a very good question. The resulting fic is pitch perfect, hilarious and aether pulls it off nicely. There are even bonus digital audience members to provide laughs for the full stand-up routine experience.

[Podfic] The one about flavors of cough syrup and other medication - you may feel better, BUT AT WHAT COST read by rhythmia (with audience), authored by several tumblr users. Original Work, Gen, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~19 min.
So, this is a List of medicine flavors from random tumblr users and that might sound boring until you actually listen to it. The comments are witty, rhythmia is doing their best with these phases and being a general delight and there is more live audience.

[Podfic] Some Things Just Don’t Happen written by Silex, read by AceofTigers. Original Work, Gen, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~14 min.
This work is connected by a thin thread to the meme of humans being Space Orcs/the weird alien race. This time a poor alien satellite tech encounters humans and makes first contact on accident. Of course there is booze involved. Great recording by AceofTigers to enjoy as well.

[Podfic] Helen’s Apoca-Tips for the Apocalypse! written by modestsphinx, read by Tipsy_Kitty. TMA, Gen, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, Apocalypse spoilers, ~11 min.
Modestsphinx said themselves this was inspired in part by Skippy’s list, if anyone remembers that trope from the early 2000s. I lost it several times to the dry delivery of Tipsy_Kitty to this brilliant work, so of course I needed to share.

A short outside-pov on Aziraphale. I liked how it underscored his otherworldliness.

[podfic] Service to the Ninth written by zoicite, read by Tipsy_Kitty. Gideon the Ninth/TLT, Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Rated M, Chose Not To Warn, ~1h 12 min.
Let me say some words to describe this fic and warn people of the emotional punch: this story is canon-compliant, pre-canon Gideon/Harrow. In short, there is a break up happening. So now that you are warned of the emotional devastation this narrative visits upon us, this podfic is amazing. Tipsy_Kitty reads it in a dream-like tone, which is absolutely how Gideon feels high on those teenage hormones. It’s the brilliant flush of teenage love and the vicious crash down to earth. Highly recommend tearing your emotions out like this.

[podfic] Just Looking For A Home written by cuttooth, read by secretsofluftnarp. TMA, Jon/Martin, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~36 min.
Set in Scottland, this fic is just pure fluff and domesticity featuring a good baby cow. D’awww. And secretsofluftnarp illustrated it too!

Just some excellent body horror without any gore! Jon is puking tape, Elias is pulling it out and GoLB narrates these scenes in a tense, hushed voice. Amazing.

The Decepticon Justice… Department?! by Metanoiac. TF IDW, Gen, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~2k.
Nothing to see, just some crack about Tarn getting used as actual bureaucracy administrator and flourishing. Of course it’s fun. And then… he gets to lecture Megatron on conduct personally. XD

when life gives you lemons by ShanaStoryteller. Witcher TV, Geraskier, Not Rated, Chose Not To Warn, ~8k.
Somewhat sweet fic about Geralt mistaking Jaskier for a sex worker and falling in love because Jaskier isn’t scared of him. While the premise beyond the fluff and smut is pretty flat, I did enjoy the execution of this.

Love Is A Masquerade [Podfic] written by Mizzy, read by paraka. Marvel 616, Avengers Vol.1, Steve/Tony, Rated M, No Warnings Apply, ~1h 32 min.
This podfic has everything: a wonderful narrator, early Marvel cheesiness, Identity Porn, Iron Man’s thighs and a sneaky Cinderella au. Impossible not to be charmed by it if you like fluff.

Another one of the micro-fandoms I cannot explain and just go along with. I mean, I can explain that frecklebomb loves nature and trees and probably got this started. This lovely fic is about some… interesting apple paintings, told via letters. Very soothing apple drama to listen to and the original post also has the unfornate paintings. I recommend this work, even if I can’t categorize what feelings I felt about it, if any.

[Podfic] Beholding the GDPR: How the Magnus Institute Updated Its Privacy Policy for the Twenty-First Century And Only Caused One Nervous Breakdown In The Process written by shinyopals, read by godoflaundrybaskets . TMA, Gen, Jon/Martin, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, ~1h 14 min.
I have for sure recced the original fic several times, but it is always nice to enjoy it again! GoLB is as always a narrator with great poignancy and fun seems to lurk just around the corner of their voice. If you don’t know the fic or fandom: evil institute of knowing and seeing everything featuring unwilling employees has to be compliant with the GDPR aka the recent measures of privacy laws from the EU. Obviously it’s a wonderful traincrash of impossible bureaucracy versus ancient evil and has fake peppy updates on the company.

This one focuses on Miles’ parents preparing to subtly let their son know they know and support him. Only Miles inherented his under pressure failings from them. Naturally, this story is made out of cute and it’s a delight to listen to it.

A demon gets accidentally summoned and has to judge pies instead of Paul Hollywood, presumably because the author was just as done with him. Short and sweet, truly.

It has a very distinctive letter! :D Also silverandblue has an amazing Grover voice.

(So Many) Semis, Both Alike In Dignity series by CompassRose, carboncopies and Gilraina, written by AceyEnn. Two Trucks - Lemon Demon, Rated T, No Warnings Apply.
If I follow correctly… There is of course the song “Two Trucks (Having Sex)” which AceyEnn was inspired by to write a proper sonnet. And then voiceteam decided to multipod it, a lot. Enjoy all these versions of a great poem.

I shouldn’t be surprised someone has written fic about the Duolingo Owl having a life crisis, resulting in all those weird sentences. Utterly wonderful, of course.

Elias makes Jon practice his truth detection on him. The power exchange gets steamy - if there is in fact power being exchanged with Elias.

[podfic] the measure of the year written by BeautifulSoup, read by marianas. JS&MN, John Childermass/John Segundus, Rated E, No Warnings Apply, ~5h 13 min.
This fic is purposeful, striding along and a wonderful piece. Really enjoyed following the whole year and listening to Childermass and Segundus slowly falling in love with each other. Marianas delivers the whole thing just as unhurried and unstoppable as time.

[podfic] Two Honks That Meet in the Night written by ExtraPenguin, read by compassrose. Untitled Goose Game & Finnish Mythology, Goose/Swan of Tuonela, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, ~9 min.
Knowing nothing about the Kalevala story in question, the goose apparently is now guarding the border between life and death with its sweetheart swan. A horror tale beyond all imagination, clearly, but still hilarious.

The Floor Is Lava [podfic] written by SuperKat, read by aether, allysseriordan, caminante, jetaina and pxssnelke. She-Ra And the Princesses Of Power (SPOP), Catra/Adora, Bow/Glimmer, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, ~32 min.
An au/fusion with the gameshow of the same name, which sounds honestly amazing. An action packed fic about navigating the parkour, so this is ideal crack treated seriously.

[podfic] the tune without the words written by Kieron_ODuibhir, read by frecklebomb. Batfamily, Jim Gordon & Jason Todd, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~11 min.
The premise of this fic, Jim meeting Jason in civil unknowingly, is enough of an emotional punch. It’s good, it’s grief, it doesn’t pull any punches and it heals. Impeccably narrated by frecklebomb, who is just a magic user with voices.

[Podfic] Again and Again written by SailorFish, read by sksninja. Hades, Achilles/Patroclus, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, Zagreus Raised by Demeter AU, ~35 min.
So, I am mostly still looking away from all Hades because I haven’t made it past Elysium on my own game, but I made a thankful exception for this since this is an AU. Did not disappoint at all, in this Zagreus fights his way into the underworld while we get the pov of one Achilles who guards the entry instead of Cerberus. And naturally he gets charmed by this weirdo kid.

[Podfic] Experiments in Intelligence written by ciaan, read by compassrose. Octopus Steals My Video Camera and Swims off with It While It's Recording, Gen, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~8 min.
A brave octopus scientists tries to see if human could be, maybe, intelligent. I loved how much character CompassRose gave the narrator - despite being based on an internet video, I got the sense that the octopus truly loves cience and believes in the scientific method. The performance lifted my spirits.

Countervail by Stairre. G1, Galvatron/Rodimus, Rated M, No Warnings Apply, ~31k.
This has some time travel shenanigans that fling Galvatron back before his creation to rescue Rodimus/Hot Rod, defeat Unicron early and fuck off together to built a neutral society. Is True Love anything else? I think not. If one isn’t willing to time travel for their love to stop being dead and/or depressed, Galvatron from this fic judges one as weak.

Feeding Venus by tinyfiestyrosiekitten. Overwatch, R76, Not Rated, Warnings For Graphic Depictions of Violence and Rape/Non-Con, ~3k.
Hnnnnnng, this fic is wonderful and goes hard. Jack in this one is a sex-pollen/human eating plant that has been growing under Gabe’s house. The sex is enjoyed but not really chosen with a clear mind. Thankfully, Jack decides to keep Gabe as mate and eat other people, so it works out in an ending that will warm the hearts of monster fuckers.

From what I see people post and chat about, there seems to be a lot of good Hades fics and other fanworks. I will have to wait because I (deliberately) leave my Switch with my parents so I don't have to fight my impulse control 24/7. I make progress on the rare weekends I go home. I think it will be at least a year...

Do make the rec list though, I am probably going to break at some point since there is just so much good things. Having a list from you and others would be helpful. :D
