Which is actually two weeks this week, since I missed last week. Fic reading took me a bit out of my usual waters into Kaiju shipping fic, but more on that later. This weekend I was mostly at home doing a jigsaw and playing some Hades after my wisdom teeth got taken. Onwards!

I have been following this a bit and it finally finished. It is smoopy and heavy on the fluff, a pre-prime AU where Orion accidentally starts dating Megatronus thanks to cultural differences. If you can take some iddy stuff, this is good!

Fool’s Hope by astolat. G1, MegOP, Rated M, Chose Not To Warn, 38.5k.
Opinions on astolat are rightfully divided, but I still enjoy some of their fic. If you need a pitch to make your decision: in an Autobots lose scenario, Megatron goes for merciful reintegration thanks to pragmatism and Quintessons. Eventually he gets to be Lord High Protector. My favourite moments here were Optimus leading a small squad of baby cons into a mission and Megatron being an atheist in the face of actually-picked-by-Primus Optimus who is just baffled.

Say Yule Be Mine by lutes_and_dandelions. Witcher, Emhyr/Geralt, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, 9.5k.
This is also straight up fluff of Geralt pining for Emhyr, Emhyr being domestic as he attempts to woo Geralt and two greyhounds, all wrapped in a Christmas expy theme.

Ah yeaaah. This was a good fic and an even sexier podfic by Gilraina. Megatronus and Orion meet in a bar on accident, spend half of it flirting via arguing oppression and philosophy and the other half getting laid. Gilraina employs a LETHAL Megatronus voice which has swagger, arrogance and promise. It’s a voice that fucks. Do listen to them, if you think you can handle it.

Toma by itsthesea. Godzilla King of Monsters, King Ghidorah/Rodan, Rated E, Chose Not to Warn, 13k.
Starting off with something short yet poignant, it’s Ghidorah, aka golden three-headed dragon and noted Godzilla nemesis, and Rodan, giant magma pterodactyl, navigating their relationship. In detail, Rodan objecting to Ghidorah asserting control without asking, turning the same tactics on him and teaching him by humilating Ghidorah while fucking. I know this sounds wild, but it makes sense in context? This fic also threads the needle of talking consent, BDSM and abuse with characters who don’t have any of these concepts. Worth for that alone.

heart’s still beating, guess I’m pretty lucky by Sroloc_Elbisivni. TFA, Brainstorm/Perceptor, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, 15k.
In canon, TFA Perceptor deleted his own emotions, which becomes the hook of this fic. Autobots and Decepticons have entered a truce, which gives Perceptor the opportunity to work with Brainstorm again and to undo his emotional cut off. These two things are of course related, resulting in a solid arc with emotions at the core.

Red Sprite & the Golden Ones series by ckret2. Godzilla King of Monsters, King Ghidorah/Rodan, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, 58k.
ckret2 is one of the authors I trust with my life, they are just that good. So I was delighted when I saw they wrote Ghidorah/Rodan, arguably the ship for the King of Monsters movie. That movie is a solid big monster movie, btw, but Ghidorah steals the show. Most notably, the creators chose to give each head a bit of a personality: the middle one, ichi (meaning one), is the decisive leader and older brother, stage side right ni (two) is more aggressive and angry and finally left stage side san (three) is curious and needs to be directed to stay on task. San has maybe 2 minutes screen time to himself, but in that he manages to sniff a human, lick corpse from the ice and get scolded by ichi, so fandom embraced him, dubed him “Kevin” and went to town.
The series is a basic everyone lives au where Ghidorah and Rodan start courting and Ghidorah is very much an alien life form. The tone is domestic, sometimes pining and often hilarious. I want to gush so much about it without spoiling anything, there are cute scenes all over. Humans also get cameos, for example flipping their lid about Ghidorah making a shortwave radio while Rodan makes a globe for his mate.

Godzilla recycles by ckret2. A collection of different in-universe news about the events of the fic which is just hilarious. Godzilla is indeed caught recycling and diy with human trash. Rodan’s language lessons for Ghidorah get recorded and uploaded on youtube with sub titles for interested people. Godzilla’s embarassing actual name he was given by Mothra in this verse is translated by humans.

Isla de Rotten Fish by ckret2. Godzilla King of Monsters, Rodan & humans, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, 2.5k.
Some of the other excellent Godzilla fic ckret2 wrote. This one is more gen in approach, examining the relationship between the indigenous people living near Rodan with their local kaiju neighbour. I adore this tiny moment and I am happy that it attempts to fix some of the colonialist framing employed in the movie by tearing the framing to shreds.

Specimen 1, Specimen 2, Specimen 3, Monster 0 by ckret2. Godzilla King of Monsters, gen, Ghidorah centric, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, animal abuse, unethical experimentation, 7.5k.
This fic is… a trip. ckret2 merges an older backstory of Ghidorah as a massive weapon with the current Godzilla, leading to tears. Because this Ghidorah gets made by merging several cute animals just because and the whole thing is told from the view of a breeder. The babies that are taken are called Noodle, Sunshine and Pineapple. Yeah. Straight up made me cry for a murderous space dragon and it make you too if you are not prepared.

Starlight, Star-bright series by Star_Going_Supernova. Godzilla King of Monsters, Madison Russell & King Ghidorah, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, 12k.
When not making giant kaiju kiss each other, at least nowadays, I appreciate giant evil kaiju being nice to humans. For the monsters-verse, teen character Madison got designated. This one is a sleepover with the three Ghidorahs and Ghidorah getting human first aid after an accident.

Megatronus analyses Orion’s frame and denotes a different past of the Iacon archivists. Really enjoyed the theory crafted in this as it would fit well into canon.

Optimus accidentally tells Megatron “choke me, daddy” in battle, embarassment all around commences.

Comedy of errors where Megatron tries to talk to Optimus about his obvious pregnancy and Optimus keeps dodging him because he thinks Megatron is horny.
