Hello World!
Jan. 31st, 2022 07:25 pmI guess I should make an intro post just to make it a bit easier. It will become apparent I was brought up in the 90s where children were told to never tell anyone online anything ever, so even though I'm an adult and it's fine to relax somewhat, I still have that branded into me. Mostly this reflects in never using the same pseud twice.
Where else you can find me online:
arioch @ ao3 |
spiritthatdenies @ tumblr |
arioch6 @ twitter | Vedrfolnir @ Pillowfort
I keep maintaining these more or less regularly. My transformative works statement can be found on my ao3 profile.
I mostly podfic and write, in that order. You can find the works all on AO3. Ok, technically you can only find links to the podfic hosting, but that's what it is. I swing back and forth between lots of lanes, I like both fluffy and kinky works, happy and angst, love a good Gen with world-building and am interested both in boy slash and femslash.
Fandoms: Too many. So many. Always changing. So a current small selection with focuses. Some of these are just... me interested in thing, but there is no actual community, so. I'm likely to be more enthusiastic about the later. If this hasn't been updated for several years, I suggest checking out whatever is in my ITPE letter to get an overview. I usually like all of them, though there is some strategy in requests depending on how interested I am. Last one is here.
Viable group activities:
Star Wars - I caught the brain worms against my will. I rummage everywhere in some way, mostly I focus on Jedi/Mandalorian ships, Jedi/Sith cuteness and Din/Boba. Also as always, world building and readings of the Jedi as buddhistic.
Transformers - What I had as focus before. I would claim these both are detours, but they are persistent. I like Prime, Cyberverse and MTMTE. The comics are so good, let me tell you. Honestly monumental storytelling, many world building opportunities and I have a lot of ships. For real, if you are reading this and laughing about transformers having deep story telling, let me blow your mind and get you in there.
Overwatch - actual real starting point for my last five years, except I keep getting sidetracked for years. But same, great slash and femslash options there, especially the femslash is underrated, and world building opportunities. My main slash ship is R76 and too many femslash ones.
Pokemon Sword and Shield - I adored the gymleader characters, still do. I don't really interact with anyone about it, but I love Kabu/Raihan and Raihan/Leon. Both have great potential.
Golden Kamuy - mostly I am catching up so shh on spoilers, but I would love any gen.
Witcher - great and lively except my main focus would be Regis/Geralt. I do like Geraskier, too, sure.
Locked TombTrilogy Quadrology - I am very excited for the new book!
The Owl House - again, great world building I adore
The Magnus Archives - Honestly adore the worldbuilding and all the tragedy inherent in it
Hades - except I'm not yet interacting with anyone because I still have not finished the core story. I just broke out of Hades this December after 200+ attempts, oops
I'm basically alone in here:
Shin Megami Tensei V - There is maybe one author on ao3 and I am so starved for anything I started studying Japanese again to read snippets of fic on twitter. I'm begging, talk to me about Aogami/Protagonist.
Delicious in Dungeon|Dungeon meshi - A classic tale: great source material everyone who has touched it agrees, almost no fanworks. Is it just so perfect no-one wants to engage? Idk.
Mushishi - suffers from the same fate, I think.
Mob Psycho 100 - I just want more gen, okay.
Attack the Block - is an underrated masterpiece and gets me in the feels.
Prey (2018) - again, more world building love.
Engelsfors Trilogy - can I interest you into an urban fantasy ya book that is realistic towards teen struggles and magic? Also a ton of fem slash???
Jonathan Strange & Mister Norrell - I don't interact much but I like world building and everything except Norrell/Strange tbh.
Old, old loves:
Otherland - So does anyone even remember this? Renie Sulaweyo is still my ideal life goal tbh.
Hellsing - Alucard/Anderson was the ship of my teen heart, I am not taking any questions.
Naruto - I mean it's huge, but I am and was an Uchiha apologist. Adore the world building of course, my main ship is ItaSasu, I have mellowed into just any Uchiha interaction. But there are many ships to sell me on here.
3x3 Eyes|3x3 Augen - I don't think most people have ever heard about this, but it's a manga about a "normal" dude getting pulled into a very heavily hinduism and buddhism flavoured underworld in a constant fight.
Nightwatch|Watch books - the Russian fantasy series.
Elric Saga - *gesturing at my ao3 name* Ok, but Elric/Arioch and Elric/Moonglum? Actually Elric/all male allies and Elric/Stormbringer.
Alien - it's an obvious truth to be acknowledged that Ellen Ripley is hot and the ideal woman and xenomorphs are also hot. But I also like the anti-capitalist message. Actually, I can probably get into many old horror movies.
LotR and Silmarillion - hard not to in this demographic tbh
Hikaru no Go - Masterpiece and yet I always forget I still need the last 3 or 4 volumes
I am almost certainly forgetting some things.

If there is such a thing. An incomplete list:
Books and reading. I sometimes post some reviews of what I think/found interesting here and am happy to chat about fiction and non-fiction. If I had to be more confusing, I would say my interest is in fact telling narratives wherever they occur, so video games, music and almost anything can qualify.
Knitting and embroidery since it can keep my hands busy when I need it. I'm neither good, prolific or creative, but I do enjoy it when I do it.
Tea and incense sticks. This completes the trifecta of bookish afab interests I believe.
Brush calligraphy and paper crafts: Another one and off thing for me. I'm not really gifted again and my handwriting is pretty atrocious, so at least I can try to make it look better in japanese with a brush?
Japan. I was raised on manga and anime, but my interest spun out from there. I try to learn the language with so-so success, history, culture and religion. From my teachers, the subjects I was primed for were Heian time culture, Edo culture and religion in general. I like Kyoto more than Tokyo, to put it short.
Ancient languages. I did my Latin props for 8 years in school, I can handle ancient japanese, I'm getting along with mongol bicig. I have dabbled but never got far with Ancient Greece, Tibetan and Norse. If I ever get around to having a good grounding in all of these, I would love to do Hebrew and Sanskrit and then go from there. Maybe ancient Korean would be a good complimentary?
Full disclosure I also speak german, it usually comes from being born into a german speaking household in the middle of europe.
Mythology/Religion. As a kid I followed up mostly on Norse, Greek and Egypt gods, as one does. Hinduism, buddhism and shintoism got added in my teens and where I got a foundation.
"Hard" sciences, mainly chemistry and biology since that was my focus in school. Some cool maths get me too, I'm sure. I am only science literary in general though, no specifications there.
Humanities, especially literary studies, history, sociology. I got a bit more foundation there but no in-depth knowledge. I reject the premise that STEM and humanities should be either/or, they need to be worked together.
Audio recording and production which comes with the podficcing territory. I also enjoy story telling podcasts and non-fiction.
Metal. I would say there is likely no human on earth that doesn't like some music, it's just that some are really into music. I haven't paid as much attention since I was a teen, but you can always get me with some metal.
Queer things and history.
...I swear I am done with hockey, but am I? I haven't been in Hockey RPF for a long while and yet I still follow along vaguely sometimes.

Date: 2022-02-02 11:48 am (UTC)I haven't played it to finish though watched many people play and he is right. It replicates the atmosphere of Alien so well, players feel hunted and on the back foot all the time. The game AI also gets smarter and wise to players tricks, it's eerie.
