Weekly fanwork recs #5
Dec. 13th, 2020 01:07 pmI think I am slowly running out of works because I mostly reread things this week. But most of these I haven’t recced yet!
More Than One Can Chew by spaceliquid. TF IDW, Optimus Maximus/Megatron, implied MegOP, Rated E, Rape/Non-Con, Size kink, Micro/Macro, Forced Participation in Non-Con, ~3k.
The Optimus Combiner mixes OPs “respect” for Megatron with the hate of the other four combined Autobots and gets messy with Megatron. Megatron is mostly alright with it and too smug about it, while everyone else involved is horrified. Delicious food, really.
Another Day, Another Hour by fuzipenguin. TF IDW, Gen, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~0.5k.
Jazz having his mandatory appointment with Rung.
Concerning the 88th Bearer of the Sacred Name of the Tombkeeper Line by Pipistrelle. Locked Tomb trilogy, Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~2k.
Stabby the Roomba in a college necromancer AU. May Stabbyhark go on forever.
“Fuck it, I’m adopting her,” said John Gaius, not knowing the paperwork wasn’t necessary by Naamah_Beherit. Locked Tomb trilogy, Gen, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, Harrow the Ninth spoilers, ~2.5k.
Gideon is late to an award ceremony and runs into a guy with peanuts. As we all know, John Gaius in canon is an asshole, but I still wish him and Gideon could have some time to play off their terrible humor against each other and this scratches the urge magnificiently.
A Mild Sort of Resurrection by sigaloenta. Locked Tomb trilogy, Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Rated T, No Warnings Apply, ~1.5k.
Coffee shop au where the Necrolord Prime is 15 minutes late to a meeting and getting Starbucks.
i write to my lady by getbreqed. Locked Tomb trilogy, Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~2k.
AU where noone in Canaan House gets murdered and Gideon joins the cohort afterwards. It’s a nice epistolary fic showing the exchange between Harrow and Gideon.
Not Down On Any Map by zuzeca. TFP, TF Beast Wars, MegOP, Rated M, Chose Not To Warn, ~20k.
How to describe this fic… plotwise, Megatron and Optimus get stranded on a water planet, take on beast forms and interface when they meet again. That would also sell the story short. Not Down On Any Map is moody and brooding, much of the fic both characters spend alone with their thoughts. Their new forms are eldritch to them, with alien instincts. It takes them time to get used to having instincts and accepting the demands of their new flesh. The prose is exquisite. Sprinkled through this are memories of their relationship from before, cummulating at last in the meeting. I wish there was more of this story, more haunted, gothic story telling about transforming robots from space that become monsters to thrive on a new planet.
untitled by squidmemesinc. MTMTE, Rodimus/Drift, Rated E, No Warnings Apply, ~4k.
Rodimus and Drift roleplay Deadlock meeting Rodimus (and having his wicked way with him.) It’s some of the best goofy sex I have read - the roleplay is sexy, but also playful and fun for both and the writer manages the fine line between sexy and goofy well. Plus bonus character development!
maybe the true love was the goats we burned along the way [Podfic] written by allonsytosherwoodforest,
friendlybomber and
spaceyho, read by
frecklebomb and
growlery. Men’s Hockey RPF, Nicklas Backstrom/Alexander Ovechkin, Rated G, No Warnings Apply, ~22 minutes.
First of all, when I was still in hockey fandom, I wondered why this fic hadn’t been written yet. The fic being, since Nicky is from Gävle, a Nicky/Ovi fic where the goat burns. Because it’s perfect for a pairing that consists of straight man (who is secretly devious) and eager, loud goofball adoring the straight man. It’s a match made in goat-burning heaven. And I am going to be real, almost everyone is rooting for the goat to burn, I certainly am every year.
So, a fantastic fic premise! Even better, it’s read by frecklebomb and growlery. Their voice acting is always on a professional level and this does not disappoint. The action sequence is tense and the whole thing gothic in an absurdist way. Bravo!
Finally, a rec for my slide show on why you should read MTMTE. Please ask me any question you might have, like where to get access to these comics. ;)
